Who Is Eligible for NEET UG 2026?
Educational Qualification: You must have passed Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as your main subjects from any recognized board in India. Students who appeared in Class 12th in 2025 and are awaiting results can also apply — but they must pass with the required percentage before the first round of counselling to be eligible for MBBS or BDS admission.
Age Limit: The minimum age is 17 years — meaning you must be born on or before December 31, 2009. There is no upper age limit for NEET UG 2026.
Eligibility Codes Explained Simply
NTA has defined multiple eligibility codes for NEET UG. Here’s what they mean in plain language:
Code 01 — Students currently in Class 12th in 2025 whose results are awaited. They can appear in the exam but must pass Class 12th before counselling begins.
Code 02 — Students who have completed Higher Secondary (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English after 12 years of schooling.
Code 03 — Students who have passed Intermediate or Pre-degree Science from an Indian University with PCB and English.
Code 04 — Students who have passed Pre-professional or Pre-medical exam with PCB and English after Higher Secondary.
Code 05 — Students in the first year of a 3-year degree course at a recognized university with PCB subjects, provided they cleared their qualifying exam with PCB and English.
Code 06 — BSc graduates from Indian universities who had at least two of the subjects — Physics, Chemistry, or Biology — and cleared their earlier qualifying exam with PCB and English.
Code 07 — Any other examination equivalent in scope and standard to Intermediate Science with PCB practical tests and English.
Critical Instructions for Exam Day
There are a few things you absolutely must not forget on May 3rd:
Aadhaar Card is Compulsory. NTA has made it mandatory for all candidates appearing in NEET UG 2026. Don’t leave home without it.
Photo Requirements. Your admit card will have a live photo that was captured during registration. Additionally, carry passport-size photographs (4×6 size) with a white background, your name written below, and the photo taken after January 1, 2026. Your ears must be clearly visible in the photo.
Admit Card is Non-negotiable. No admit card means no entry into the exam hall. Download it from the official website, print at least two colour copies, and keep them safe.
How to Download NEET UG 2026 Admit Card
Downloading your admit card is straightforward:
Go to the official NEET UG website at neet.nta.nic.in. Click on the “Download Admit Card” link on the homepage. Log in with your Application Number and Password or Date of Birth. Your admit card will appear on screen — download the PDF and print at least two colour copies. Check all details carefully — your name, roll number, exam centre address, and photograph.
If you spot any discrepancy, contact the NTA helpline immediately — don’t wait for exam day.
Exam Pattern – A Quick Reminder
| Subject | Questions | Marks |

| Biology (Botany + Zoology) | 90 | 360 |
| Physics | 45 | 180 |
| Chemistry | 45 | 180 |

Marking scheme — +4 for correct answer, -1 for wrong answer, 0 for unattempted. With negative marking in play, avoid random guessing. Only attempt questions you’re reasonably confident about.
What NEET UG Leads To
Clearing NEET UG 2026 opens doors to undergraduate medical courses across India — MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS, and other AYUSH courses. Admissions are offered through both government and private medical colleges based on your NEET rank and counselling rounds conducted by MCC and state authorities.
The result is expected in June 2026, after which counselling will begin in phases.
Last Minute Checklist for May 3rd
Before you leave home on exam day, make sure you have:
Printed colour copy of your admit card, original Aadhaar card, passport-size photographs with white background, a valid photo ID (Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence as backup), and a blue or black ballpoint pen. Leave all electronic devices — mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators — at home. They are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
Reach your exam centre at least an hour before your reporting time. The exam runs from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM but most centres expect candidates to arrive by 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

You’ve spent months preparing — these last few days are about staying calm, revising smartly, and taking care of yourself physically and mentally.
