Who Can Apply? Special Eligibility Condition

Before anything else, it’s important to understand that this recruitment is not open to everyone. Only one dependent family member of an Assam Rifles personnel is eligible, and only if that personnel falls under one of these categories:

  • Killed in action
  • Died while in service
  • Discharged on medical grounds
  • Missing while in service

If your family member served Assam Rifles and falls under any of the above, you are eligible to apply under this compassionate scheme. It’s the government’s way of standing by the families of those who served the country.

Basic pay for constable-level posts starts at ₹21,700, with additional benefits including Risk Allowance, Hardship Allowance, and Dearness Allowance (DA). For higher posts like Warrant Officer, the pay naturally scales up significantly.

Getting selected involves clearing five stages, and you need to qualify in all of them:

Stage 2 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET): A running test to assess fitness. Male candidates (except Ladakh region) need to cover 5 km in 24 minutes. Female candidates need to cover 1.6 km in 8 minutes 30 seconds.

Stage 3 – Written Examination: A 100-mark MCQ paper covering English Language, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness — 25 questions from each section. No negative marking.

Stage 4 – Trade / Skill Test: For technical posts, a practical test related to your trade.

Stage 5 – Medical Examination: A standard medical checkup to confirm you meet health requirements.

Final Word

The Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Appointment Scheme is more than just a job opportunity — it’s the government’s acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by paramilitary personnel and their families. If you or someone you know is an eligible dependent, this is a meaningful chance to secure a stable government career while honouring that legacy.

Don’t delay — the deadline is May 11, 2026, and the application process is offline, so postal delays are a real concern. Apply well in advance.
